5-Axis Vertical High Speed Mill
The HS650L 5-Axis High Speed Mill is designed and built for high-speed precision milling. The 5-Axis capability will allow for the addition of movement in the A and C Axes, in addition to the standard X, Y and Z Axes. This allows the user to save time by machining complex shapes in a single set-up. Additional benefits come from allowing the user of shorter cutters that permit more accurate machining using the HS650L Vertical Machining Center.

The Sodick HS650L 5-Axis Vertical Machining Center features Sodick’s patented energy saving linear motors and linear scales with five-place decimal input and feedback. This combination results in unsurpassed speed and accuracy with almost zero backlash. This leads to a machine tool that can handle the most complex, three-dimensional contours better than any other machine in its class.
With an impressive acceleration rate of 1G, superior stability and the highest degree of precision down to nanometer are the tip attributes of this innovation. The Sodick HSM has begun a new era in high precision milling. Unlike the conventional method of separately executing rough and fine milling, this new technology combines both machining passes in one operating mode. The solution is a rapidly rotating and traversing of small tool diameter that cuts to very fine depths.

The HS650L 5-Axis features a 40,000 RPM spindle. This spindle is ideal for high-speed, high-precision direct milling of hard surfaces and features a long spindle life. The spindle is high-torque and highly durable and includes micro-oil mist lubrication.

A/C Axes Drives
Exclusively built to Sodick standards and linear motor accuracy, Roller Drives achieve both precision and torque by zero-backlash transmission technology, where having both high precision and high torque is difficult with existing rotary components. The LN5X CNC features a large 15.1” display screen with a resistance-sensitive touch panel.
