Q. I TURNED MY WIRE SPEED WAY DOWN BECAUSE IT WAS NOT BREAKING. WHY DO I NEED TO RUN IT ANY FASTER THAN THAT?
A. If you run the wire too slow you will get a tapered part. This is because the wire is eroding as it travels through the part from top to bottom. The wire is smaller at the bottom so the kerf is smaller at the bottom. This will give you punches that are larger at the bottom and dies that are smaller at the bottom.
