Q. I HAVE AN A320D. IS THERE AN EASIER WAY TO SET TABLE TO UPPER RATHER THAN READING THE SCALE ON THE SIDE OF THE MACHINE OR BUYING A DIGITAL READOUT FOR Z?
A. Yes. You will still have to read your scale once. Here is the procedure. The next time you need to set T to upper, mic the thickness of your part first. Then set your Z axis height normally, read the scale, and set T to upper. Now, subtract the thickness of the part from T to upper and write down this number. This number is the amount you will add to the thickness of your parts to obtain T to upper in the future. I know it sounds complicated but it is really very simple. This will not work if you use a different size shim to set your Z axis height, but if you always use a .004" shim for example, this is a very easy way to set T to upper.
